It's raining. Not a lot; more of a thunderstorm. The heat and humidity are awful; heat advisories both today and tomorrow. I am not getting outside much.
Today I am grateful for a sister to walk with.
Today I am grateful for Jeffrey Marsh.
Today I am sad and disappointed that the new 'more delicious' Coke Zero isn't, at least to my taste. We regularly purchased Coke Zero because it tasted like Coke Classic; no more. And I perceive a bitter aftertaste to whatever they've done. Ugh. I know, I know, maybe give up soda entirely. Not likely. I don't consume a lot of it; I don't seem to suffer ill or life-quality-impairing effects; and if I'm drinking a zero-calorie soda it's often better than an indulgent food binge. So that's my current conclusion in my experiment of one.
I tracked on Cronometer for breakfast and lunch yesterday, then went off the rails last night with cookies and chips and a candy bar. Exhausted from work, I stopped at the store to get chewy Tums and razors (yes, I'm going to end up shaving the legs) - which I got - but the songs playing were "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" and "The Locomotion", and I was dancing in the aisles, so happy to not be at work. I discovered while Sparkpeopling that I am a BIG celebratory eater, and I guess last night I just rolled with it.
Today I need to prioritize hydration, as many online friends have pointed out. Thank you! As my wise DH says, "Sometimes the things that go without saying are the ones that most need to be said."
Have a Wonderful Wednesday!
If it's the bubbles you like, try the flavored seltzers. My kids live on them. I've tried a few and they are tasty enough but I'm not a fan of carbonation...unless it's beer.
ReplyDeleteI've been flavoring my water with Sunkist Orange, comes in a powder pack and I use half of the suggested amount. DH uses the squeeze bottle zero calorie flavors.
As for the scale, mine's remained about the same for months. Oh well.
The same beats the crap out of a rapid rise! Well done with the scale!
DeleteI used to ship some kind of water flavoring to my son when he was deployed, to encourage hydration (and he asked for that particular brand, which now escapes me).
We had storms yesterday evening, too, and more rain, but all it did was add to the humidity. HOT and humid again here, too, and maybe . . . MAYBE . . . a little cooler tomorrow. We shall see, but then heating up again.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the disappointment over Coke Zero. I just find that anytime the formulation is changed, it is not for the better. **SIGH**
LOL! Those 2 songs are dance-worthy.
You do indeed have a wise DH!
Love your DH's pithy wisdom! You may tell him that... your sister has always been a fan of his creative side!
ReplyDeleteI seem to be past my one particular "off the rails" day... and now, I'm off to walk a little this morning before our "walking with steam heat in masks" adventure this afternoon.
Is ditto a "worthy" comment?? ha, ha. Even though I am hundreds of miles away we have heat advisories for today and tomorrow as well. Our rain soaked ground is helping to perpetuate humidity levels in the tropical zone. It has been slightly cooler in early morning so have managed to sneak in at least one walk with the dogs. Your DH takes the prize for today's pearl of wisdom in my book!
ReplyDeleteIt's hot and humid everywhere, or so it seems. It makes me cranky! I'm ready for cooler temps!!
ReplyDeleteI can buy a 6 pack of Diet coke and if I have one of the 16.9 oz bottles the 6 pack will probably last me 3 or 4 months. I just don't think about drinking soda unless I am out to lunch or dinner.
ReplyDeleteThe weather is crazy! So much for climate change! Evidently it is REAL! Isn't humidity good for the complextion? Hmmm, maybe maybe not.
Have a great day!
Well said! Those two songs would've made me dance too. Rain and more rain in the tropics.
ReplyDeleteHeat & humidity & air quality here in Central Texas comes with warnings to stay indoors in AC if possible.
ReplyDeleteThe heat is very draining so a drink was necessary :), sometimes we just NEED that sugar rush. In tiny amounts of course.
ReplyDeleteWhat about trying some soda water ... yum...
Great blog thanks
Hello, I can type again!
ReplyDeleteCompletely understand. I can eat when I'm happy, when I'm sad, when I'm anxious. I gained 2 pounds after cutting my hand. LOL
I echo the advice, stay hydrated.
Way back in the eighties, and what feels like a million years ago, my programmer BF and I had to stockpile “old coke” because they came out with “New Coke” which was just too nasty sweet, and the “Coke Classic” they came up with after the backlash just wasn’t right, either.
ReplyDeleteWe had a pallet of it in our apartment and rationed it. Whenever we discovered an obscure vending machine, we’d buy a “Coke” to see if it still had any “old coke” in it, and empty it, if it did. We were able to continue replenishing the stockpile in this way, long after it was unavailable in stores. We we Deficated. Made scrounging for quarters on Laundry Day more challenging, though! 😉
I think we made our little hoard of Coding Juice last almost a year. Then we had to branch out to other caffeine sources. We never did switch to Pepsi or RC cola. Yuck! 😂
I love this story! I called McDonalds back in the day to complain about New Coke. Because that seemed to work, I’m speaking up again.

ROSEAAREBLUE : I started drinking Coke Zero this year of 2021 . I had not been drinking soda pop for a few years . But like you I found I could have 1 can 3 or 4 times a week and it would help me not eat at night . That and sugarless gum . All habits that are new . And I don't plan on stopping anytime soon . Don't you find it's almost a rhythm in when we over eat . We all do well and then boom a bad day , a bad night . It is the making ourselves just learn and get back to our plan for healthier eating , that is most important . Take care of yourself .
ReplyDeletePersonally I hate soda...sugar water is all I taste. This happened years ago after a daily 16 ounce Pepsi habit. I got pneumonia and upon recovery had lost all taste for sweetened waters. But don't obsess over it. Plus going off the rails is allowed, its the habitual anti-health actions that we must learn to control. No more Dreyers Slo Churned rocky road for me this season, no matter how discounted and hot it gets!
